Ian Shen

Producer/Director/Writer

"Joy in the Mourning" marks Ian's third short film directing endeavor. His prior short "Picket Guy" (co-produced, written and directed) was selected in the top 20 of the "Best of the 2005 168-Hour Film Project".

Ian is a professional actor (imdb) as well as a talented voiceover artist, singer/songwriter, freelance graphics/web designer, and international Christian preacher/teacher. Ian has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (biomedical sciences) from the University of California at Riverside, and a Master of Divinity (with emphasis family pastoral care and counseling) from Fuller Theological Seminary.

One milestone was the release of his self-produced full-length CD album entitled, Where the Road Divides (2b3 Productions, 1998). The album is a compilation of songs written over his first ten-years as a Christian. His songs of the contemporary Christian genre are "the songs of his soul," as Ian calls them, a means of healing during a very difficult period of his life, trying to find his place in the world.

A Los Angeles based cinematographer, Pierre has over ten years experience as DP, Camera Operator and Aerial Photographer. Educated at California Instutute of the Arts and UCLA, his main areas of interest are features, short and art films. Website

Brendan Anderson

Composer

Brendan Anderson is a composer and conductor for both the film and concert music worlds. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in composition from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN and then moved to Los Angeles where he studied film scoring at UCLA's Entertainment Studies Extension program. He has written underscore for numerous short films and documentaries with "Joy in the Mourning" being his third collaboration with director Ian Shen. Anderson's score to Shen's short film, "Picket Guy" was nominated for Best Original Score at the 2005 168 Hour Film Festival. He resides in Scottsdale Arizona with his wife Jenna where he is the conductor of the Ahwatukee Foothills Concert Band. Website

Patrick Shen

Patrick specializes in digital visual effects and to capitalize on advancing technologies for the purpose of establishing his own digital effects company. He attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO, and is a graduate of Baylor University in Texas. His areas of interest include graphic arts, non-linear editing and digital video effects.
